Materials: found object (box with molded intererior for novelty keychain), wax; additionally: power cord and plastic tubing (#1); rubber bands (#2); cotton wadding and cotton string (#3); small tweeter & volume knob (#4); steel drill bit (#5).
When the keychain (received as a gift) was removed from the box, the plastic molding which held it in place caught my attention. The negative space, which I poured wax casts from, had an intriguing shape which immediately looked like a phallus or a melted microphone. I set to work creating apparati of all sorts from the mold, trying to explore this association between sexual and mechanical.
